SS13 Sneak Preview #4: The Montane Torque 40 Rucksack

A month since our last sneak preview, time to get back on it! So far we've had a peek at a few of the jackets and footwear coming in, so its about time we had a wee look at some equipment! Up for the sneak preview treatment today is the Montane Torque 40 Rucksack.

New for Spring/Summer 2013 it's been designed with serious mountain climbs in mind, functionality is at it's heart, though it's a happy coincidence it's sleek and clean lines give it eye candy aesthetics. The pack itself has been constructed from lightweight Raptor TL fabrics, giving it exceptional durability as well as a coating of DWR.

The Torque features Montane's 'Comfort Back Pad' that has channels to help wick sweat and moisture away from the body. The 'VertErgo Climb' back system provides strength, support and comfort when carrying heavy loads. Having seen it and worn it in the flesh, it's lightweight comfort and strength can be vouched for! Two shoulder tension straps allow a close fit to the body and a removable hipbelt has been positioned out of the way of any prospective harnesses etc.

Back System

With alpine and mountain climbs in mind the enhanced 'Dual Tool' attachment points ensure you can bring along ice axes, poles and other equipment. It features tight compression straps to safely lock down to axes when not in use. The attached ice axe can also be reversed to an 'Alpine safe' position, increasing safety when moving quickly or during tilted movement. The pack also features an ample sized 'buddy pocket' for front access and provides an ideal place to store maps, guidebooks etc. The top lid of the Torque is also extendable and has compression straps, enabling an increased height to accommodate climbing accessories such as bulky ropes.

The Torque's minimalist slim line design ensures bulk won't cause a problem but it still features four symmetrical single hand pulls to offer highly effective compression, keeping all it's content safe and tight. Throughout the pack there's mitt and glove friendly locking webbing buckles, so there's no need to struggle with taking your gloves on and off to get access to your equipment while on the move.

Black

The Torque 40's body curve hip fins ensures for optimum comfort and extra stability when on the go, no matter what terrain your venturing out on. An internal security pocket features vertical upside down zippered entry preventing coin and key loss, a very clever little feature! There's also a key clip as well. Other features include; 360 degree reflectivity, double tension waist harness, stiffened front lid panel and a removable bivvy mat.

Moroccan Blue

We've got the Montane Torque 40 arriving in two colours; Black and Moroccan Blue. When in stock the pack will cost around £98.99. Considering the amount of specifications and features Montane have packed into the rucksack it still only weighs in at a lightweight 1325g!
