Blocfest 2012/13: New Generation Bouldering Events

Blocfest is a UK based climbing festival spread over 5 venues, offering world class boulder settings in top climbing centres in the south of England. The aim of Blocfest is to capture and encompass everything that is exciting, challenging, social and fun about indoor bouldering. It caters for all levels and ages, providing something for everyone. The Blocfest organizing team has been headed up by 7 time British champion and world renowned climber Gaz Perry, so in terms of putting together the best bouldering festival ever, you can't go too wrong! The rest of the team include; Mike Langley, a BMC national route setter, Kornelija Howick, a rising star in the route setting and bouldering sphere and Alex Lemel, the current route setter at London's Mile High Climbing Centre and considered the dark horse of British bouldering.

Five Blocfest events are being held, starting from October 2012 this year and going through into March in 2013. These events include 25 boulder problems, ranging from the really easy for first timers all the way up to routes for hardened pro's who want something to challenge them. Competitors can climb for the chance to feature in a showcase final at the end of each event, so glory awaits! Each festival has a DJ and live music to provide a fun, and social atmosphere, there's also plenty of free goodies being given away and prizes on offer. As well as the predetermined routes to explore, the festivals will also include challenges, from how long you can hang on to a slippery volume to how far you can get on a long, long problem before your muscles give way. The first event at Mile End, London saw over 250 intrepid and psyched climbers of all ages turn up and have an all round blast, so hopefully the following events will prove to be just as successful!
