Warm Winter Footwear! The Chilkat II & Snowbound Mid Boots

The Winter chill has finally hit us, there's frost on the grass and ice on your windscreen. You can sling on your big coats and pop on your cosy hats, but sometimes the one area you neglect is your feet. Being an avid football fan and having been used to attending lower league matches, standing on cold open terraces leaves you rather open to the elements. First things first a good thick pair of socks works wonders, then on to your second barrier of defence, footwear!

The North Face Women's Chilkat II Boots have become the go to winter boot for cold weather adventures. Built with a waterproof, BLC leather compliant upper the boots have been equipped with plenty of durability. The winning addition in the Chilkats is the 200g worth of Primaloft Eco Insulation, spreading the warmth throughout your feet and toes, ensuring that when the temperatures drop your feet stay toasty warm. It's quoted they can go down to -32C! For extra comfort the boots have a Dri-Lex fleece collar and tongue lining. All the hardwear on these boots are rustproof, so when you do go venturing out in to damp and cold conditions, you can be sure of the longevity of them. They've also been fitted with gaiter compatible D-rings.

Moving down into the engine room of the boots, they've been made with a compression molded EVA midsole for excellent shock absorption and user comfort. On the bottom the Chilkats have been adorned with a durable TNF Winter Grip rubber outsole for good traction on those slippy surfaces and terrains. Second up we have the Merrell Women's Snowbound Mid Waterproof Boots. New in to us for AW12, the Snowbounds are another great option for Winter trekking and around town wear. The upper has been made with synthetic coating leather and mesh and a strobel construction ensures flexibility and comfort. The TPU waterproof shell also gives the boots excellent versatility so you can march out into wetter weathers. 200g of Merrell's own Opti-Warm lightweight insulation keeps your feet warm in varying conditions. Inside the boots Merrell conductor fleece enables an fantastic amount of heat retention.

Down below the Snowbounds have a molded nylon arch shank, equipping them with good stability and durability, especially crucial if you want to head out into more uneven terrains. The compression molded EVA footframe and Merrell Air Cushion provides elevated comfort and shock absorbency. A Snowbound sticky rubber sole also gives the boots much needed traction to keep your upright when traveling on slippier surfaces.
