Just in: The VivoBarefoot Neo Trail Trainer

As we welcome in a new month, we're also welcoming in a new brand here at Outdoorkit. We now have VivoBarefoot in stock!

The VivoBarefoot range was born in 2003 and quickly became the pioneers of the barefoot movement. Their minimalist designs incorporate an ultra thin puncture resistant sole which offers optimum protection as well as maximum sensory feedback to help elevate the barefoot experience to new levels.

We thought we'd take a closer look at one of their models, taking centre stage today is the VivoBarefoot Neo Trail Trainer. As the name pretty much dictates the Neo Trail has been designed with trail running in mind, along with off roading and fell running. As mentioned further up, the trainer has been adorned with their patented ultra thin, puncture resistant sole, offering fantastic protection and comfort as well as maximum 'proprioception' (yes we had to get the dictionary out too). It's believed that around 70% of your brain's information for movement is obtained from the nerves on the soles of your feet, so by using a very thin but very protective sole, you can really get the most out of your barefoot experience.

Sticking on the sole for a minute, the Neo Trail's outsole features an off road rubber grip which has been designed specifically for use on off road surfaces. The sole has directional lugs to maximise surface contact for superior traction on slippy on uneven terrains.

As well as making sure your footing is secure, the guys at VivoBarefoot want to make sure you don't get soggy feet and the Neo Trail's waterpoof sock construction does exactly that. With faster paced activities in mind the trainer has also been made with a breathable inner lining to maintain ventilation throughout.

There's also no faffing about when it comes to getting laced up either, the Speedhook system ensures a secure and quick fastening for a personalised fit. If your worried about your carbon footprint then fret no more with VivoBarefoot's range, they've all got outstanding Eco credentials with the soles being made from recycled rubber and the Dri-Lex lining uses sustainable DuPont Sorona Yarn's.

The VivoBarefoot Neo Trail Trainers cost £80.99 and come in two colours, an eye catching Black/Yellow and a classic Black. Considering the protection the Neo Trail manages to pack in, coupled with the lugs for an impressive amount of traction they still only weight a lightweight 260g!
