The North Face Triclimate Jackets - Warmth and Variety!

December is on the horizon and your car windscreen is frozen when you walk out to it on a crisp cold morning, it's time to wrap up warm and get set for Winter! Triclimates and 3-in-1's are always high on the list of go to jackets. But what sort do you choose to keep you toasty warm this season? It's pretty easy to be bamboozled by the selection of fabrics, insulation and specs, so we thought we'd give you a rundown of three of the big hitters from The North Face.

The North Face Men's Zenith Triclimate Jacket

Starting with a more 'entry' level North Face 3-in-1, the Zenith still has everything in it's locker to keep the chill at bay. Starting with outer of the jacket, it uses The North Face's own waterproofing system 'Hyvent', ensuring breathability and first and foremost good protection in wetter climates and in snowy conditions. The fully adjustable, removable hood also gives great all round weather protection. Adding to the jackets breathability and wicking abilities, it also features pit zips. A brushed chin guard always proves to be a nice little addition as well, because who wants a chin rash right? The Zenith's inner jacket comes in the form of 200g Polartec fleece, which obviously can be used to create another layer or it can be unzipped and used as a stand alone piece. The North Face Men's Solaris Triclimate Jacket

The next step up from the Zenith is the Solaris Triclimate. Very much like the Zenith, the Solaris uses a Hyvent waterproofing system and features many of the same specifications. The step up is accounted for by the grade of inner jacket. Whereas the Zenith uses a Polartec inner, the Solaris utilizes a synthetic 'Thinsulate' insulation, which is slightly less bulkier than a fleece and has higher insulative properties. So if your looking for that extra step up in warmth, it's definitely worth it!

The North Face Men's Mountain Light Triclimate

Ascending up to level 3 in the elevator we have the Mountain Light Triclimate Jacket. The Mountain Light is very perched on the upper echelons of Triclimates. The Outer of the Jacket uses Gore-Tex Performance Shell, the top waterpoofing system around, ensuring great breathability and fantastic all round protection from the rain, snow and wind. Inisde you'll find a pretty big step up with the inner jacket too. This time in comes in the form of a 550 fill down jacket for ultimate warmth. One of my favourite features of the inner jacket is the inclusion of TKA superstretch side panels, giving you just that little bit more dexterity where you need it. The Mountain Light also features a fully adjustable, detachable hood, adjustable cuffs, cinch cord hem and central storm flaps keep out wind and water. Vented alpine pockets and media storage keep valuables safe.
