Sneak Preview #27: The Mountain Equipment Men's Gasherbrum Jacket

It may sound like an incredibly random name when you first read it or hear it, but like most pieces of gear there's always a meaning behind it. In this case 'Gasherbrum' or 'K5' is the 11th highest peak on Earth and lies on the Pakistan-China border. Being located in the northern regions of the Himalayans, it's fairly obvious to say you'd be needing a nice warm jacket to tackle it, hence The Mountain Equipment Men's Gasherbrum Jacket.

The Gasherbrum has been made especially with alpine style climbs in mind and won't feel out of place on some of the highest peaks on earth. The Jacket's shell has been made with He30.rs, a fabric exclusive to Mountain Equipment and one that offers the very, very best in lightweight, breathable protection. Inside you've got a 750+ fill of 93/7 Hungarian Goose Down, so when those cold conditions do decide to turn on you, you can turn right back and tackle them head on.

The jacket has a Box Wall baffle construction to eliminate cold spots and to provide maximum warmth. The hood has also been healthily insulated so you won't be suffering from a chilly bonce. (I believe that's the technical term for a cold head..). The Gasherbrum features a 2-way YKK moulded zipper behind an insulated storm flap. Two large handwarmer pockets provide plenty of room for storing smaller essentials in and of course help to keep your mitts toasty.

Inside theres a mesh water bottle holder and another zipped accessories pocket to ensure you'll always have hydration near by. To make for the perfect fit, the jacket features adjustable cuffs and a dual tether drawcord.

We're expecting the first drop of the Gasherbrum to be with us around mid August, so there's plenty of time to prepare for your Winter trips and expeditions. We've got two colours coming in; Light Ocean/Russet Orange and Black/Steel Zips.
