Review: Montane Mantra Jacket

I wasn't too 'Montaney' after all, a new day a new jacket!

I've got the Mantra Jacket in front of me as I speak and it's a pretty fine affair. The first thing that stands out really is the sleekness of it, all clean lines, no eyesore's to be had here. It's been made with classic Polartec Powershield, thus ensuring excellent protection against the wind and a good amount of protection from the rain. You can also rely on Powershields breathability, so it really is an all year round fabric.

Spec wise, you get all the essentials you need. Two mesh lined handwarmer pockets, chest security pocket, adjustable cuffs and obviously a full length reversed, baffled front zip. One feature that does stand out is the elastic adjustable neck cinch, veeery useful indeed, saves having a chilly neck or get nasty dribbles of rain inside the jacket, Melikes.

Depending on how well built you are, and how closer fit your looking for it might be worth considering which size to plump for. The Mantra, along with most Montane gear comes with an active cut, designed to suit more, well...active users. So some may need to go up a size.

So all in all the Mantra really is top notch (And I'm not just saying that). Although it's fairly minimalist in it's design, it retains it's style and finesse with ease, which is quite possibly the beauty of it!
