The Hunter Boot Story!

Seems like a long time since I last walked out of the front door in the morning and felt crisp cool air surround me, the last month or so I think we've all been greeted with a distinct amount of mugginess. It's the end of August, so I guess it's about the right time for things to turn. Another thing that has been rather prevalent over the last few months are the sightings of Hunter Boots just about everywhere. Festival goers adore them, as do farmers and dog walkers a like! Having been out on many a run through muddy fields in preparation for the Great North Run, I've encountered numerous Hunter clad dog walkers merrily traipsing through the fields, safe in the knowledge they'll stay warm and dry and not have to worry about slipping on their backsides, with Hunters sturdy outsoles!

The Hunter story actually started back in 1856 when Mr Henry Lee Norris, an American entrepreneur landed in Scotland looking for a place to settle his boot making company. Fast forwarding somewhat, the outbreak of World War I saw the need for sturdily constructed boots for use in flooded trenches, so now the fashionable boot had branched out to turn into a highly functional necessity. The same can be said for the companies demand in WWII.

The benchmark Hunter Welly, the Original Tall Classic was first conceived in 1955, built with the now legendary Hunter Orthopaedic last.

In 1977, having continued to supply wellies to the Royal Households, Hunter was awarded a Royal Warrant from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. This was shortly followed, in 1986, by a Royal Warrant from HM The Queen. The Royal seal of approval indeed!

Today, Hunter remains the preferred welly brand for those who like to work hard and play hard. There's a great range of boots to suit welly wearers all over the world, from the Royal Family to festival-goers, working farmers and landed gentry alike.

We've currently got a veritable array of Hunter Boots and Accessories in stock, from the Original Brit Boots to the ultra plus Women's Chunky Cable Cuff Welly Socks!
