You may have seen we've been championing the charity 'Welcome To My Yard' over the last couple of weeks, with the fantastic work they've been doing for street children in Kathmandu.
Following on from the kind of work the guys at Welcome To My Yard have been doing it's also well worth getting yourselves behind another organisation, the 'Consortium For Street Children'. CSC was formed to act as a kind of umbrella organisation, with the aim of uniting many other smaller street children charities to encourage co-operation and joint projects. CSC was officially launched from Downing Street on November 18th, 1993. From there the organisation has grown from strength to strength and has well and truly put the concerns of street children on the map.
The 12th of April is the official 'International Street Children's Day' and in the words of Sally Shire, the CEO of CSC, "The International Day for Street Children aims to give a voice to some of the most disadvantaged and invisible children of this world. Together, through raising awareness and recognition of the worldwide issue we can put pressure on policy makers and create an environment in which street children's voices are heard and their rights are realized."
So it really is another fantastic cause to lend your support to!
