Barefooting across the universe

Merrell are going barefoot! It seems they've taken the theoretical approach too. Seems like the idea behind it is to have minimal support and cushioning. The theory is that by removing a lot of the support and cushioning allows the foot to move more freely and naturally. The resulting effect is lower impact on the foot. Simple! The one shown in the photo's certainly look sleek and smart. Their a bit more built up than Fivefingers, extra ankle support possibly?

I quite like the idea of having a barefooting shoe that isn't geared towards a specific activity like running, yoga or trekking etc, it doesn't pigeon hole anyone or any activity, you can do whatever you please!

I must give these Merrell Refuge's a mention too, their looking rather swarve!
